Didn’t get this during the ESS, but it was on sale at the Lilly store today and I knew I had to have it!
In the past few minutes, I’ve seen comments such as “I bet Lilly Pulitzer is turning over in her grave” & “Now all the poor people can learn how to dress” floating around on my newsfeed. First of all, are you really that shallow? Do you think that you’re somehow “above” shopping at Target? I can guarantee you that a lot of the famous preppy Tumblr bloggers have pieces in their OOTDs from Target because I’ve seen it in their outfit descriptions. That just goes to prove that style isn’t about a brand. It’s about knowing how clothes look on you & what looks good together. Just from personal experience, I’m known as one of the best-dressed people at my college, but I’ve never worn a single piece of Lilly to class. I just pair outfits together really well (most of which are pieces from places like J. Crew & Banana Republic, but at outlet prices) & always try to look classy & presentable. Secondly, this is a brilliant marketing move for the Lilly Pulitzer company as a whole. The patterns themselves will still be exclusive because you can only find them at Target, but it will be more accessible for every budget. I’m sure a lot of people that have never been able to buy Lilly will be really grateful to have it available to them for Spring & Summer. I don’t live anywhere near a Lilly store, so I’m certainly excited! Finally, for those of you being so snarky, you may be wearing pretty dresses, but they can’t hide your ugly attitude.
